While I agree with the contents of Mr. Boon regarding Raj Thakre and his brand of politics, I do not think his statement about Bengal are correct. Before I mention why, let me first say that yes, Mumbai or for that matter any metro, cannot be managed by one cast or one religion or one state. What Mumbai today is, is because of so many people from across the country put their efforts and labour here. And anyways we live in India and are absolutely free to work and live whereever we chose to.
Now coming to Bengal., this movement of Joy Bangla (or Amra Bangali) never, ever took off or took roots in Bengal. It was limited to some hooligans putting Tar on Hindi and English words on Railway station names and shop hoardings. Majority of Bengalies never bothered abt them. The reasons for Bengal's sad state is not Joy Bangla but rather horrible governance by the earlier communist government led by Jyoti Basu. The policies adpted by them, the never ending Bandhs and Strikes, the blatent hooliganisms by the mazdoor unions, pathetic power and other infrastructure is what drove the industrialist away!!!
The current government of Buddhadev did try to bring back the industry, but then now we have a bigger scrouge there going by the name of MAMTA BANERJEE wwho is far worse than Jyoti Basu, she is plain opportunistic and wants to grab power purely by a brand of polities which is similar to Raj Thakray's in many ways (self destroying, working in the short term). If she comes to power in Bengal, it will fast become the worst state in India!!!!
