| Posted: 21 Dec 2008 05:26 PM CST  The undersea cables linking Europe and Asia, which were damaged by ships early this year, have reportedly been cut again causing severe disruption to internet and voice traffic in the Middle East and other parts of Asia.India seems to have been particularly hit with around 82% of voice traffic getting affected. I have been experiencing slow connection speed on my Airtel Broadband line since yesterday so this could be a possible reason.France Telecom is estimating that the cables would be repaired by December 25th but the Internet traffic can only be restored by December 31st.Just a Preview... I never knew Shah Rukh was a bigger brand than Osama Bin Laden. And Sonia Gandhi for her fluent Hindi speaking abilities is the 17th most powerful person in the world. She is the queen of Indian democracy and Shah Rukh the king of Bollywood. Yeah right!Although India’s political scene is riven by factions, Congress remains the strongest national force, and the Italian-born widow of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi rules it unchallenged. In the world’s largest democracy, she’s queen.Why exactly is she the queen? Just because she has Gandhi as her last name? When did India become a monarchy? Oh! Please. She did not win any major election. The credit for 2004 election should go to the Communists for tying up with Congress and forming NDA. This alliance exists because BJP exists. That cannot be treated as a victory. It is more a ploy to defeat BJP.Coming to Shah Rukh, I got one word -WTF. Pronounce it Zy-Lo, as the company wants you to. Or as silo, as in missile silo!This is an update to our earlier story about the Mahindra Xylo, the new name of the so-called Ingenio. We have had a pile of stories on DWS Auto India about the Mahindra Ingenio, and a couple of pissed-off ones too, I think. Hearing about it incessantly for two years can do that to you. Another similar culprit is the Toyota Fortuner. I almost want to fervently pray that it flops miserably.Mahindra Xylo engine: Same as the Scorpio’s CRDe?Back to the Mahindra Xylo, then. As far as the engine goes, so far, all we know is that it will be a 2.5 liter CRDe mill. We do not hear anything about a petrol engine for the Xylo so far.Power output and other details are not available as of now. What we do know is that the Scorpio CRDe diesel engine which is 2600 cc produces 115bhp at 3800rpm and 28.3 kgm of torque between 1700-2200rpm.
