પીળઝાણ નજરો ને પીળચટ્ટા શબ્દો ને પીળપદા શ્વાસનો શો તાળો ?
હો, મને વૈદ કને ન લઈ ચાલો,
જોયો છે મેં તો મોસમનો પહેલો ગરમાળો !

વર્ષ આખું ઊભ્ભો'તો લીલી પ્રતીક્ષા લઈ,
પહેલી પીળાશ ફૂટી આજે;
પીળી આંખોમાં હવે પીળી આવે છે ઊંઘ,
પીળવત્તર સપનાંઓ આવે,
પીળુકડા સૂરજની પીળમજી ડાળો પર પીળક બાંધે છે હવે માળો.
જોયો છે મેં તો મોસમનો પહેલો ગરમાળો !

ઠંડકની પાનખર બેઠી નગરમાં ને
તાપના બગીચા ખીલ્યા સડકો પર;
લૂના ગોફણિયેથી સન્નાટો વીંઝાતો,
બારી ન એકે સલામત,
બળઝળતા દિવસો પર ગીધડાંની જેમ નખ ભેરવીને બેઠો ઊનાળો.
જોયો છે મેં તો મોસમનો પહેલો ગરમાળો !

આયખાની આંખ્યુંમાં ટાઢક થઈ અંજાતું
પીળું ગરમાળાનું કાજળ;
રવરવતી વેદના પળમાં ચૂસી લે
જેમ સૂરજ ઢાંકી દે કોઈ વાદળ,
રસ્તાની તડતડતી ચામડી રૂઝવવા હાથ પીળો ફરે છે સુંવાળો.
જોયો છે મેં તો મોસમનો પહેલો ગરમાળો !
