{M:H:O} **-~Today's Special in MHO...Golden Globe Predictions 2010~~**

BEST MOTION PICTURE DRAMA

Our pick: Inglourious Basterds
Yes, Avatar might have been the biggest film of 2009 and is currently the second-highest grossing movie of all time, but Inglourious Basterds is the favourite to win in this category because of its critical acclaim. Basterds boasts a great cast and director, and it was the only American film to win an award at Cannes '09. Most importantly, Basterds' storyline managed to win people over, without the help of CGI. Avatar is great and all, but we have to give this one to InglouriousBasterds.

Our pick:Julie and Julia
There are four strong contenders for this category: Julie and Julia, It's Complicated, (500) Days of Summer and Nine. We would give the award to Julie and Julia because it's a simple heart-warming story and it stars award-magnet Meryl Streep. Julie and Julia grossed a massive US$200 million at the box-office, surpassing its US$40 million budget. (500) Days of Summer may spring a surprise attack, but we believe Julie and Julia will be able to hold its own.

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM

Our pick:Up
There's really no fight in this category, especially when the other films in this category have not fared as well as Up has. Up was arguably the biggest animated film last year and it made a killing at the world box-office, and although the other animated films have their own fans, none of them is on a class with Up.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY ACTOR,DRAMA

Our pick: Morgan Freeman (Invictus)
It is a close race between George Clooney (Up in the Air) and Morgan Freeman (Invictus), but we have to give this one to the latter. Don't get us wrong, George is great and all but Morgan was brilliant in Invictus. He played world icon Nelson Mandela, and George played someone a guy who lives an empty life out of his suitcase. Like we said, it's close, but Morgan might just edge him out for this award.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS, DRAMA

Our pick: Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side)
Nobody expected The Blind Side to be doing so well, but the fact that it is and Sandra Bullock is the biggest reason why. The gal has been around for ages, and with 2009 being her year (she starred in two blockbuster hits last year, The Proposal and The Blind Side), there is no reason why she shouldn't win this one. Sorry Emily Blunt, maybe next year.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR, COMEDY/MUSICAL

Our pick: Matt Damon (The Informant)
This, like the Best Actor in a Drama, is a close fight; between the awesome Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes) and the most profitable actor on Earth, Matt Damon (The Informant). Robert's portrayal as the genius sleuth was spot-on and a little bit more, but it was Matt's portrayal as a shape-shifting mole that has gotten everyone's attention. The only thing that is preventing Matt from running away with the award is The Informant's dismal showing at the box-office. We shall see.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS, COMEDY/MUSICAL

Our pick: Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia)
Sandra Bullock stands a strong chance of wrestling this award away from veteran actress Meryl Streep, but her portrayal of lovable chef Julia Childs is just too hard to ignore. Meryl has six previous wins, the last being in 2006 and we think it is time for her to bag another win. With that impressive resume, it is very likely the foreign press will give this to the Devil (who wears Prada).

BEST DRAMA SERIES

Visit Us @ www.MumbaiHangOut.Org

Our pick:True Blood
Vampire series True Blood has had a phenomenal year last year. The second season premiere of the series in June 2009 was viewed by 3.7 million viewers and an average of 12.4 million viewers tune in to watch True Blood every week - making it the most watched program on HBO since The Sopranos. Mad Men and Dexter, many apologies, you ain't got no chance here.

BEST COMEDY SERIES

Our pick:Glee
30 Rock
is, like always, the strong favourite to win this category. But 2010 might be the year the studio crew loses its stronghold in this category to the first-year wonder we know as Glee. The musical series was a worldwide phenomenon and the relatively unknown cast managed to capture the attention span of a little more than 7 million viewers per week. While it is wishful thinking for a newcomer to dethrone 30 Rock in only its first season, but we have a gut feeling it will.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN  A TV SERIES DRAMA

Our pick: Michael C. Hall (Dexter)
Bill Paxton (Big Love) and Jon Hamm (Mad Men) have little chance. Hugh Laurie as Dr. House is so yesterday. The only challenge Michael C. Hall - who plays a serial killer in the hit TV series Dexter - has for this award is The Mentalist's Simon Baker. Even that, it's difficult to ignore Dexter's record breaking fourth season last year (the finale drew 2.6 million viewers, making it the most-watched original series episode ever on Showtime) and Mike's portrayal of the serial killer is just too good to pass up for an award.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN TV SERIES DRAMA

Our pick: Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife)
Now this is a hard one. Damages' Glenn Close is the strong favourite to win this one and True Blood's Anna Paquin is a strong favourite as well. But judging by how well The Good Wife is doing - thanks largely to Julianna Margulies' portrayal of the tragic housewife Alicia 'The Good Wife' - the award might just go to the dark horse of the lot, 44-years-old Jules. We are betting on it.
