RE: :|: MHO :|: Maya seeks Rs 550 cr more for memorials

It is the Indian Democracy where Politician are raping our country and public
are behaving like audience only. Its the shame on us , we had selected Mayawati
as a CM for India's largest state UP. Mayawati are putting miliens of public
money on statues and parks where another politician like Mulayam Singh is
waiting for his turn to demolish all the statues and parks constructed by
Mayawati. They will do whatever they said, but there are the public money
involved in this, therefore public are ready to bear and will elected again and
again these cheap mentalities politicians in the election.
WAH re NETAS and WAH re DEMOCRACy and WAH re PUBLIC...

Ignoring the criticism from various quarters over the wastage of public money on parks, memorials and statues, the Bahujan Samaj Party government in Uttar Pradesh on Monday sought an additional Rs 550 crore for this purpose in the first supplementary demands for grants for the current year, presented in the Assembly on Monday.

Finance Minister Lalji Verma tabled the Finance Bill, which will come up for consideration and passage on Tuesday. The government also sought Rs 4,800 crore for procurement of paddy and wheat from farmers, and Rs 173.25 crore for payment of compensation for land to be acquired for various road projects.

For the Kanshiram Memorial coming up on Jail Road, the government sought two additional grants of Rs 19.81 crore and Rs 35.73 crore. Ever since the BSP government came to power in May 2007, it has sanctioned Rs 370 crore for the Kanshiram Memorial.

For the Eco park, proposed to be constructed adjacent to the Kanshiram Memorial, the government sought Rs 199.90 crore. It will come up on the land that will be available after the demolition of the Lucknow jail.

For another Kanshiram memorial, "Kanshiram Smriti Upvan", the government sought an additional Rs 57.80 crore. For the Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan, the government sought an additional Rs 56.30 crore. For the Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal at Gomti Nagar, better known as Ambedkar Memorial, the government has asked for Rs 57.67 crore. The construction of the memorial began during the first stint of Chief Minister Mayawati in 1995. The state has spent over Rs 3,000 crore so far on the project.

The government also asked for an additional Rs 26.75 crore for installation of statues at the Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal and for bronze plating of the murals at the Kanshiram memorial under construction at Jail Road. For the all-round development of Lucknow city, the government sought additional grant of Rs 100 crore.

For the purchase of 25 Honda City cars for the judges of the Allahabad High Court, the government has sought a grant of Rs 2.03 crore and Rs 82 lakh for the renovation of the official residences of the judges, Rs 61 lakh for the installation of ACs at the residential and non-residential buildings of the High Court and Rs 33.25 lakh for the maintenance of split ACs installed in the High Court.

For construction works at Raj Bhavan, the government has sought Rs 1.57 crore, while Rs 1 crore has been demanded to set up an Arabic-Persian university in Lucknow. It has also demanded Rs 6.5 crore for the drought-hit districts of Bundelkhand and eastern UP.
