Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati having been felicitated with a giant sized garland made of Rs 1,000 denomination currency notes at the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) rally in lucknow on Monday of Rs 5 crore.The rally is organized as BSP completed 25 years.
Taking cognizance of the gift, the Income Tax department is said to have issued a notice to Mayawati.
But today Again a garland of denominaton of 100,500 & 1000 is again gifted to Mayawati in the rally in lucknow of INR 18 Lakh.
Naseemuddin Siddiqui had said that from now onwards everytime garland of currency will be gifted again and again.
The big question:
* Will the IT probe really be decisive or will it just end up just as a political fight between the Congress and BSP?
* Will there also be a probe in judging whether official state machinery was used to organise this rally?
* Will action be taken against the Lucknow unit of the BSP which has already admitted to presenting the garland to Mayawati?
A bill to that effect was tabled before the Uttar Pradesh assembly in Lucknow on Thursday for raising a special security force to guard the chief minister's dream projects and statues in Lucknow and Noida.
Besides the statues and new memorials that were coming up in the name of various icons of the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party, the force would also guard the new sprawling pink-sandstone bungalow erected for Mayawati for her post-chief ministerial days.
The Rs 42 crore worth mansion was built by the state government on a giant 100,000 sq ft plot in Lucknow's most posh Mall Avenue, after pulling down a minister's bungalow and the office of the state sugarcane commission. The minister's bungalow was allotted to Mayawati after her first stint as chief minister in the mid-nineties, in keeping with UP's tradition of allotting a 'suitable' residences to all the former chief ministers for their lifetime.
More than half-a-dozen ex-chief ministers were living in different bungalows in the state capital in Lucknow. However, none of these have any special protection force to guard them. Security personnel are deployed in accordance with the individual entitlement of each of the former chief ministers.
The new force would be designated to guard the Ambedkar Memorials at both Lucknow and Noida, besides the Luckow-based Kanshi Ram Memorial , Kanshi Ram Sanskritik Sthal, Rama Bai Ambedkar Maidan, Buddha Vihar and Kanshi Ram Green Eco Garden, that was coming up on the sprawling 120 acre plot of land vacated after the shifting of the Lucknow district jail to the city outskirts. The state government was spending nearly Rs 6000 crores on these projects.
Even as there was no debate on the bill so far, leaders of opposition parties were very critical of the chief minister on the issue.
Estimates suggest that each statue of Kanshi Ram and Mayawati costs a sum of Rs 6.8 crores. Each elephant statue costs more than Rs 70 lakh. In addition, crores have been spent on constructing boundary walls around parks across the state where these statues will be installed and another Rs 80 crore per annum will be spent in the maintainance of these parks
In Aug 2009 , She has demanded only Rs 250 crore from the Centre as drought relief for Bundelkhand.
The marble elephants at Ambedkar Memorial cost Rs 52 crore. An amount of Rs 90 crore was allocated for the beautification of Kanshi Ram Park.
What we should call this ?
She might be doing this just incase her government falls in the next tenure and if the next government starts demolishing the parks and statues she can again target the Dalit votes to gain mileage.
I have seen people constructing statues in memories of others but she is the only lady in the world who wastes public money like hell to create her own smiling monuments along with Kanshi Ram. Kanshi Ram, the Man who laid the foundation of bahujan samja will regret his decision when he will look at public money being wasted like this, UP is going back to another 10 years. Hope for the best.
