Nation pays tributes to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev New Delhi, Mar 23 (ANI): Nation today paid tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, the great martyrs of the country. On this day in 1931, Bhagat Singh along with Rajguru and Sukhdev were given death sentence. Rajguru was the accomplice of Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev in killing a British police officer in Ferozpur in 1928 in order to take revenge for the death of veteran leader Lala Lajpat Rai due to excessive police beating. This is the reason why all three of them were convicted of the crime and hanged on March 23, 1931. In Punjab, the state-level Shradhanjali Samagams are being organised at Hussainwala in Ferozepur District where the last rites of the three were performed on the bank of Satluj river and at the native village of Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan in Nawan Shahar. They had laid down their lives for the country on 23rd March, 1931. Whenever we recall the freedom struggle in India, the sacrifice of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajg uru will automatically come to our mind. They were the sons of this soil and fought till death, without giving up before the oppressing British rule. These three revolutionaries inspired the theme of young and modern India and millions of youths in the country see them as icons and role models even today. Their contribution, ideals, slogans and thoughts are as relevant today as they were earlier. Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru took up the armed struggle, they fought against the administration, but they never caused any harm to the common people. They fought for the people and bring freedom for them. The Maoists and Naxalites, who cite the examples of these martyrs, while staging a war against the state, must remember that they are damaging public properties, killing innocent people and taking the country backward. Our martyrs fought for the unity and sovereignty. But the Maoists or Naxalites are a threat to unified India. They want to break the nation. They want to ruin the economy. They kill their own people.
